Sam Dotson is an energy modeler for the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Climate and Energy Program. In his role, he analyzes and models energy systems at myriad scales from local to national levels. He also incorporates energy justice concepts into his modeling practice to enhance just outcomes.
Before coming to UCS, Sam interned at Argonne National Laboratory where he used agent-based modeling to analyze bidding behavior in electricity markets.
Sam is a PhD candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering. His dissertation focuses on the integration of energy modeling and energy justice. He also holds an M.S. in nuclear engineering and a B.S. in physics from the University of Illinois.
