Nancy Stephens is an actor who seamlessly transitioned from a long and successful acting career and member of the prestigious Actors Studio to being a full time advocate and activist. In addition to her longtime service to the board of the Union of Concerned Scientists, she serves on the board of Americans for the Arts. She believes that the use of art in depicting the perils of climate is often much more effective than graphs and charts, and has been involved in efforts that tie climate change to art, the most recent being Coal + Ice, first displayed in Beijing and then at the Kennedy Center.
She is also on the Board of Chicken & Egg, supporting underrepresented voices in documentary films. Nancy and her husband, filmmaker Rick Rosenthal, actively support meaningful and socially relevant documentaries including Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Dark Money, Always in Season, Rebel Hearts, Feels Good Man, Crip Camp, Invisible Beauty, Food and Country, and To The End, which focuses on the Sunshine Movement and young people's advocacy and activism around climate. Locally, Nancy is the gubernatorial appointee to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Board in California. Politics are her passion, and she is always focused on politics and making sure our wonderful 300+ year experiment in democracy is preserved and improved upon. She is thrilled that her three adult children also live in the Los Angeles area.
