Edward Parson is Dan and Rae Emmett Professor of Environmental Law and Faculty Director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the University of California, Los Angeles. He studies international environmental law and policy, the societal impacts and governance of disruptive technologies including geoengineering and artificial intelligence, and the political economy of regulation. He has served in policy and advisory positions with the governments of the United States and Canada, and in several international organizations. Before his academic career, Ted was an environmental activist and a musician.
