Christopher Williams is the Research Director for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In his role, Dr. Williams leads research efforts on the role of science in public policy.
Prior to joining UCS, Dr. Williams served as a senior scientist and researcher for Fors Marsh, leading quantitative evaluation of multiple federal programs, including assessment of the Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 vaccination campaign, better known as We Can Do This, and evaluation of the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program. He also spent a decade at in academia conducting research on electoral system, elections, campaigns, and political parties.
His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Electoral Studies, Social Science Quarterly, the Journal of European Public Policy, Party Politics, West European Politics, and the European Political Science Review. His non-academic work has been published with the EU Observer, the Arkansas Times, the Mischiefs of Faction blog, and the London School of Economics’ EUROPP European Politics and Policy blog. Dr. Williams has also served as the editor of the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties.
Dr. Williams holds a PhD in political science from the University of North Texas.
